Washington (July 22, 2015) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) issued the following statement on the energy bill released today by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

“I commend Senators Murkowski and Cantwell for their continued bipartisan commitment to addressing the energy challenges we face as a nation. While I will continue to review the bill in its entirety and look forward to working with my colleagues, I am pleased that the Senate energy bill released today does not include provisions to lift the ban on exporting U.S. oil, which could harm American consumers, businesses and our national security. Any energy legislation considered by the Senate must not seek to repeal this longstanding U.S. law.”
