AUGUST 3, 2010: MARKEY LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE

New Website will be User-Friendly Hub for Information & Constituent Services for Seventh District Residents

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Representative Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), today announced the launch of his new, interactive website. The improved website includes many features designed to help Rep. Markey’s constituents learn more about the many services his office provides and to stay updated on the latest news from the 7th Congressional District of Massachusetts and from Washington D.C.

One of my primary responsibilities as a lawmaker is to make the federal government more accessible to my constituents,” Markey said. “In keeping with that spirit, I am pleased to launch a new website today in order to provide a window into my work here in Congress, help people contact me, and offer information on a variety of topics.

With this new and improved website, my constituents will have easy and convenient access to information on how my office can be of service to them and how I can help them in dealing with the federal government.”

The new site can be found here: http://markey.house.gov/

The new, interactive website will allow constituents to send their concerns and questions directly to Rep. Markey, request assistance with a federal agency, ask for a tour of White House, order a flag flown over the Capitol or find applications for Congressional internships and academy nominations. A former chairman and current member of the Communications, Technology and the Internet (CTI) Subcommittee, the website for Chairman Markey’s Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming won the 2010 Congressional Golden Mouse Award for having one of the best Web sites in Congress.

Rep. Markey also continues to utilize social media outlets to stay connected with his constituents. Follow Rep Markey on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

Rep. Markey invites all constituents to visit his website at http://markey.house.gov.  Rep. Markey also encourages constituents to call his Medford District Office located at 5 High Street, Suite 101, Medford, MA 02155 at 781-396-2900 or his Framingham District Office located at 188 Concord Street Suite 102, Framingham, MA 01702 at 508-875-2900 at any time.
