Lawmakers are the leading investigators in Congress into the BP oil spill
 

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Reps. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.), the leading investigators in Congress into the BP oil spill, including the flow rate and size of the spill, will speak on today’s announcement of the settlement between BP and the Department of Justice related to criminal charges and fines as a result of the company’s 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. BP said it will pay $4.5 billion and plead guilty to 11 felony counts. The settlement includes a guilty plea of obstruction for lying to the United States Congress related to the size of the spill.
