GE Aviation was Awarded $517 Million for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development Contract for ITEP

Washington, DC - United States Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) along with Representative Seth Moulton (MA-06) applauded the announcement that GE Aviation has been awarded a competitive, single $517,375,800 Cost Plus Incentive Fee contract for the Engineering & Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Improved Turbine Engine Program (ITEP), benefitting workers at GE Aviation's facility and its community in Lynn, Massachusetts.

"We congratulate the dedicated and talented workers at GE Aviation's facility in Lynn, whose efforts enhance our nation's military readiness," the lawmakers said. "The Improved Turbine Engine Program (ITEP) Award will help build economic opportunity in Lynn and strengthen the city's position as a hub of manufacturing."

The lawmakers supported the New Army Helicopter Engine Design Contract for GE's Lynn Facility when GE Aviation was awarded a two-year contract as part of ITEP in 2016. The contract has supported more than 100 engineers working on the GE3000 engine for Black Hawk and Apache helicopters, primarily at GE Aviation's facility in Lynn, Massachusetts.
