Washington (July 30, 2018) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement on the passing of Congressman Ron Dellums.

“Ron Dellums was an icon, an iconoclast, and a public servant without equal,” said Senator Markey. “Ron’s office was across the hall from mine in the House of Representatives, and for decades we worked side-by-side on arms control, together stopping the spread of nuclear weapons and blocking missile projects that would have worsened the arms race with the Soviet Union. From arms control, to nuclear nonproliferation, to his anti-apartheid campaign, above all else, Ron Dellums believed in peace, and the world is a safer place because of his service to our nation. There will never be another legislator, public servant, or social justice warrior like Ron Dellums.”
