Markey (D-MA), a long time advocate for quality children’s programming, made the following statement in response to news reports of the resignation of Kenneth Y. Tomlinson from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) Board of Directors. Tomlinson had served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

"This is a welcome opportunity for the Bush Administration to appoint a replacement for Mr. Tomlinson who will be a defender of outstanding public affairs, educational, cultural as well as high quality children's programming."
