WASHINGTON, D.C. - Representative Edward J. Markey (D-MA), chairman of the House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet convened a hearing to discuss H.R. 5353, the Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008, legislation that he co-authored with Rep. Pickering (R-MS).

The panel of witnesses included representatives of industry, academia, activists and business who highlighted key arguments in the Internet freedom debate and discussed H.R. 5353, which would enshrine Internet freedom principles in telecommunications law.
