Rep. Markey, with MA Delegation, introduces resolution to congratulate the Boston Celtics on winning the 2007-2008 NBA World Championship

WASHINGTON – Representative Edward J. Markey (D-MA), dean of the Massachusetts congressional delegation, has introduced House Concurrent Resolution 376 along with the entire Massachusetts delegation in the House of Representatives, to congratulate the 2007–2008 National Basketball Association World Champions, the Boston Celtics, on an outstanding and historic season.

Rep. Markey said, "The Celtics, in winning a record 17th NBA World Championship, completed a remarkable, unprecedented single-season turnaround that captivated basketball fans across America. Doc Rivers' team, with its tough defense and tenacity, would have brought a smile to Red Auerbach's face.

"Coming off a last place finish in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division last season, the Celtics have joined with the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots to transform Boston from ‘Beantown' to ‘Titletown' with a combined 6 championships in 6 years.  It's an amazing time to be a Boston sports fan."
