June 2, 2011: Markey Statement on Massachusetts Tornadoes

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Edward J. Markey (D-Malden), dean of the Massachusetts Congressional delegation, issued the following statement on yesterday’s tornadoes in Massachusetts.
The devastation caused by the tornadoes in western and central Massachusetts is heartbreaking. My deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic event, and we pray for the swift recovery of those injured. I have spoken with Congressman Neal and have offered any assistance he, his office, and his constituents need during this time. I will work with the Massachusetts Congressional delegation, Governor Patrick, and federal agencies to ensure federal resources are directed to quickly and effectively respond to this disaster so affected communities and families can begin to rebuild their homes and lives.”
