MEDFORD, MA – U.S. Representative Edward J. Markey (D-Malden) announced today that he will hold a town meeting on the national policy of domestic surveillance on Wednesday, January 4th, 2006 at 7 PM at The National Heritage Museum, 33 Marrett Road, Lexington, MA.

President Bush has authorized domestic spying on American citizens as part of the War on Terrorism without obtaining any court approval at any time.  Please join Congressman Markey and a panel of national experts including Carol Rose, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts (ACLU-MA) and Marc Rotenberg, Executive Director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) in Washington, D.C., for a discussion on whether domestic spying is permitted under U.S. Constitutional Law. 

The panel will take questions from the audience and the media is welcome.
