Washington, D.C. – Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass), a senior member of the Energy and Commerce Committee and Dean of the Massachusetts Congressional delegation, today released the following statement after the vote on the Republican’s “replace” legislation.

Republicans put forward a ‘Bill to Nowhere’ that has no chance of enactment and contains no viable alternatives to the healthcare law.  While the new law already is helping millions of seniors, middle class families, small businesses and children across the country, Republicans are trying to turn back the clock.  We cannot permit the GOP to force a retreat to the days of insurance companies dropping coverage when you need it the most, seniors struggling to afford their prescriptions and families driven into bankruptcy by sky-high medical bills. I will continue to actively oppose Republicans’ misguided efforts.”
