Select Committee to Explore Global Warming’s Growing Concerns

Hearing Probes Warming World’s Impact on Agriculture and Forestry

On June 18, 2009 the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming will hold a hearing at 9:30 a.m. entitled: “Global Warming’s Growing Concerns: Impacts on Agriculture and Forestry.” The hearing will examine the impact global warming is currently having on the productivity and potential risks to these important industries.

Witnesses will discuss the present effects of climate change on agriculture and forestry such as increased drought, changes in precipitation, higher temperatures and increased activity of weeds and pests. The committee will also discuss how America’s agriculture and forestry sectors can help stave off the worst effects of global warming.
