Markey Statement on Final Keystone Environmental Impact Statement

WASHINGTON (January 31, 2014) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), chair of the Senate Climate Change Clearinghouse, released the following statement after the U.S. State Department released the final environmental impact study for the Keystone XL pipeline:

“Because the Keystone XL pipeline will export dirty oil to foreign markets around the world, using the United States only as a conduit that assumes the environmental risk, this project is not in the best interests of our nation and our climate.”
