House Dems, Vets, Heating Assistance Groups to Push for Low-Income Energy Assistance Funding
 
WASHINGTON – With a cold snap hitting the Northeast and international unrest sending oil prices higher, several House Democrats, low-income energy assistance groups and military veterans will call for an increase in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, this Wednesday at a Capitol Hill event. Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) will introduce legislation at the event to support the LIHEAP program, and other members of Congress, consumer groups and a military veteran will talk about the need to support low-income American families during these hard economic times.
